8th Grade Leadership Team Lends a Hand

Friday, January 29th, the 8th Grade Leadership presented representatives of Lend a Hand with a check in the amount of $257.32. This represented half of the money the group was able to raise by hosting a middle school dance. The school district’s Needy Fund was given a check for the same amount.

The 8th Grade Leadership Team is made of a group of students identified as gifted and talented in the area of leadership. The group attended a conference with leadership students from other schools in the fall. Each school returned to their own district to identify a community service project. The OlsonMiddle School students identified Lend a Hand and the School Needy Fund as their project.

Mrs. Holdberg, the middle school’s 7th grade Language Arts Connections teacher, is the advisor for the group. She and the students will be returning in the spring to share the project with the other schools participating in 8th Grade Leadership activity.

A Lend a Hand spokesperson had this to say about the 8th Grade Leadership Team: “We are so grateful they thought of us, but even more so we are so proud to know they are the next generation of leaders here in JuneauCounty!!!!!!”
